Why Antonio Conte will not be back in the Tottenham dugout vs Wolves

Cristian Stellini has explained why Antonio Conte will not be on the touchline for Tottenham's Premier League clash against Wolves on Saturday. The Spurs head coach will return to England this weekend after spending more time in Italy following his sides Champions League last-16 clash against AC Milan to recover from gall bladder removal surgery, but will not be at Molineux according to Stellini.

The Spurs assistant coach said: "I said he would come back this week and straight after the match against Wolves he will be in London and will be in charge again from Sunday.

Pressed further as to why he will be absent, Stellini responded: "This is a question for the medical department because they decide the time schedule was one month. One month after the surgery stops on Saturday and they ask Antonio to come back on Sunday so this is a question for the medical department."

Conte has been absent for the last few weeks after a decision was made to put his health and recovery first which saw him remain in Italy after Tottenham's Champions League visit to San Siro. In his touchline absence, Stellini was able to continue his 100% winning record with league victories over West Ham and Chelsea.

However, that streak came to an end on Wednesday evening when Spurs were knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship side Sheffield United. A second half strike from Iliman Ndiaye saw Spurs eliminated at the same round as last season to another team from England's second division.

Stellini will have the opportunity to keep his Premier League unbeaten streak alive in the shoes of Conte though as the Italian will not be present at Wolves over the weekend.
