West Ham fans will be banned from their next away European match after Fiorentina skipper Cristiano Biraghi was hit with an object during the Europa Conference League final.
The Hammers were victorious in Prague and so will enter next season’s Europa League. But UEFA have confirmed away fans will be prohibited from travelling to two matches - the second of which has been suspended for two years.
They have also been fined €50,000 for the throwing of objects and a further €8,000 for invading the field of play.
Jarrod Bowen's last-gasp winner sent the travelling West Ham supporters into ecstasy, but club bosses were forced to address the issue which saw Biraghi receive a cut to the head.
"West Ham United unreservedly condemn the behaviour of a small number of individuals who threw objects onto the pitch during tonight's UEFA Europa Conference League final," the Premier League club said in a statement.
"These actions have no place in football and do not in any way represent the values of our football club and the overwhelming majority of our supporters, who have behaved impeccably in Prague this week and throughout our last two seasons in European competition.
"In line with our zero-tolerance approach, anyone identified will have their details passed to the police and will be given an indefinite ban and therefore be unable to enter London Stadium and travel with the club."
Fiorentina were left furious by the incident and insisted that it had a negative impact on their team's performance.
"This unacceptable behaviour obviously affected the performance of the footballer and his team mates, who had their attention drawn away from footballing matters by the threats to their own safety," Fiorentina said.
"The club is certain that UEFA (European soccer's governing body) will thoroughly evaluate the incident and duly punish those responsible for this act, delivering an appropriate response and setting an example so that such situations never occur again."
Fiorentina supporters have also been given a one-match away ban following incidents in their semi-final with FC Basel. The statement from UEFA reads: "The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has taken the decision to fine ACF Fiorentina €30,000 and to ban ACF Fiorentina from selling tickets to its away-supporters for its next (1) UEFA competition match, for lighting of fireworks, throwing of objects and crowd disturbances.
The Serie A side have also been fined €4,000 for the improper conduct of its team.
