BREAKING: Two people hospitalised as Lanarkshire cops carry out late night investigations

Police in East Kilbride are tonight believed to be investigating a serious incident in which two people have been hospitalised.

A heavy emergency services presence can be seen in the West Mains area, with sources telling Lanarkshire Live of door-to-door enquiries.

Once source shared gruesome details of the incident heard over a police radio, including “multiple lacerations to head and hand”.

However, we have chosen not to share further details relayed to us until confirmation of the incident. Police Scotland have been asked for a comment on the incident.

Wishing not to be named, our source added: “There are now two going to hospital, a man and a woman.

“We could see an older guy being taken out on a stretcher on Strathfillan Road, he was maybe in his 50s or 60s.

“We can hear the cops from our window. They said, 'he's definitely going to need the hospital,' before the paramedic wheeled him out.”

Pictures sent to Lanarkshie Live show police officers and paramedics on the scene.

It is now believed officers are scouring the area for evidence, as well as conducting interviews with neighbours.

We will have more on this as we get it.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101.

Information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
