Clement Lenglet has become Tottenham's fifth signing of the summer, joining on a season-long loan from Barcelona. The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to N17 in recent weeks, despite not being top of the wish-list.
The defender has a number of qualities that can make him a strong addition to Antonio Conte's squad. Lenglet can play as both a centre-back and left-back and has both league and Champions League experience, making more than 200 appearances across La Liga, Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, as well as 44 Champions League features.
The French international will therefore bring versatility to Spurs. He will not only give the 52-year-old more depth in his defensive options, it will also mean Tottenham's defence, especiailly Ben Davies, will have to work extra hard to keep their spot in the regular XI.

In recent weeks it was revealed that Lenglet was one of a number of Barcelona players who wasn't in Xavi's plans, which indicated that a move could be on the cards. football.london reported on Wednesday that a deal wasn't close to completion.
However on Thursday, Barcelona's sporting director Jordi Cruyff said: "Lenglet's departure is about to become official." This hinted that the move could be close to an announcement, which it was.
"We are delighted to announce the signing of Clement Lenglet on a season-long loan from Barcelona, subject to international clearance and a work permit," Tottenham confirmed in a statement on Friday evening.
Spurs' January signings, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, both made the move to the capital, settled in quickly and had an immediate impact on their new side. Conte will be hoping Lenglet can do just that and if there is anyone who will be able to get the best out of him at Tottenham, it's the Italian.
