Tottenham have agreed for Jack Clarke to spend the remainder of the season at League One side Sunderland, making him the third academy player to make the move away from N17 so far in this window.
Clarke decided to stay at Tottenham during the summer as he tried to breakthrough into the first team but he has only made one appearance, which was in the Lilywhites' very first Europa Conference League match of the season.
The 21-year-old will now finish the season at Sunderland, who are currently second in League One, on the same points as first place Wigan, although the current leaders have four games in hand.
The academy player has found some success this season in the Premier League 2, scoring three goals and registering four assists in 15 appearances for the U23s.
Speaking to Sunderland's official website about his loan move to the League One club, Clarke opened up on his return to the north and also his aim of helping the club win promotion.
"I can't wait to get started. I'm from this part of the world, so I know this is a massive club and what it means to the fans," said the York-born winger.
"I'm looking forward to playing at the Stadium of Light and the prospect of being part of the team that takes the club back to the Championship.
"I want to help the team as much as possible, whether that's goals or assists, and ensure we reach that end goal."
Sunderland boss Lee Johnson is certainly happy to have Clarke at the club for the remainder of the season, pointing to the fact he's grown on the pitch over the past six months.
Given Clarke's good form for Tottenham in Premier League 2, the attacker could have a big role to play in the final months of the campaign.
"Jack is a talented player and having followed his progress over the past few years, I feel like he’s really grown on the pitch throughout the past six months and found a maturity to pair with that talent," he explained.
"The competition for places in our final third is strong and we want to be able to change games as we move into the back end of the season.
"Jack understands that this is a big club with a lot to play for, but he wants to be an influential player for us and help to ensure we have a successful end to the season."
Clarke will now play in the same league as Kion Etete, as Spurs also sent the forward out on loan to League One side Cheltenham Town.
Dilan Markanday is the third academy player who has made a move during this window, as the 20-year-old recently made the permanent move to Championship side Blackburn Rovers.
Tottenham will be hoping their loaned players can get experience and continue their development before their return.
There is also hope that a couple of fresh faces can be brought to N17, with Luis Diaz one player who has been heavily linked with a move to the capital, although no deal has yet been confirmed after Spurs reportedly had a £37.6million offer turned down.
Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici still have work to do inside the final week before deadline day to bring in players who can help the first team have a successful final few months of the season.
