Tiger Woods has confirmed he will make his PGA Tour return next week at the Genesis Invitational. Woods has not featured on the Tour since the 150th Open Championship at St Andrews in July 2022.
The golfing great featured just three times competitively last season playing at the Masters and the PGA Championship, as well as his fairytale return to Augusta last April. His lack of golf has been down to his ongoing fitness battle, after suffering life-changing injuries in a car accident in February 2021.
There were fears that Woods would never compete professionally again due to the effects of the injuries he sustained in the high-speed crash nearly two years ago.
Remarkably though, the 82-time PGA Tour champion made a sensational comeback at golf's flagship event by teeing it up at Augusta for last year's opening major championship. The three-time green jacket winner impressively made the cut, before finishing the week in 47th.
After four days of competition across the brutal Georgia course, Woods was seen limping off the 18th green following his top 50 finish. He then later confirmed the rest of his career on the PGA Tour would be a part-time one.
Speaking after his return, the 15-time major champion admitted: "I won’t be playing a full schedule ever again. It will just be the big events. Woods' 2023 return comes at an event that is close to his heart, with the American the tournament host of the Genesis Invitational, whilst the iconic Riviera course is where he made his Tour debut in 1992.
