Arsenal confirm UEFA decision on Europa League clash vs PSV amid Queen's funeral plans

Arsenal's Europa League clash against PSV Eindhoven on Thursday has been postponed due to severe limitations on police resources.

Last week's round of Premier League fixtures were called off entirely as a mark of respect following the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday September 8th. The move had proved a controversial one after other sports such as cricket and both codes of rugby decided to continue playing.

Now another game has been postponed, with Arsenal moving to confirm that their clash with PSV on Thursday at the Emirates Stadium has been called off after the Eredivisie side stated UEFA had come to a decision on the match.

"Our UEFA Europa League home fixture against PSV Eindhoven, scheduled for Thursday 15 September, has been postponed," a statement on Arsenal's Instagram read.

"The postponement follows liaison between UEFA, the Metropolitan Police and ourselves, after the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We are working with the authorities to reschedule the match and any tickets (including those purchased via Ticket Exchange or received via Ticket Transfer) and/or hospitality packages purchased for this fixture will be valid for the rescheduled date.

"For any season ticket holders who have sold their ticket via Ticket Exchange or transferred their ticket via Ticket Transfer, your ticket will remain inactive for the rescheduled date. Further updates, including information about forthcoming matches, will be shared on arsenal.com."

It is not yet known when the game will be rescheduled. Due to the tightly packed nature of the fixture list this season with the midseason World Cup in Qatar there are not many dates available for the game to be played.

football.london understands that Arsenal are still yet to receive any guidance on whether Sunday's Premier League match with Brentford will go ahead. In the meantime they will be training at London Colney in the hope that the match can be played.
