A huge blaze broke out near a heliport, sending pillars of black smoke into the skies above Newcastle.
The blaze broke out at the Newcastle City Heliport at around 10.15am after reports of a van fire.
Firefighters attended the scene within five minutes of the first alarm call and extinguished the fire using water jets.
A Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We can confirm that earlier this morning three appliances responded to a vehicle fire just off Scotswood Road in Newcastle.
“Our Control Team received the initial emergency call at 10.15am with the crews in attendance being from Byker and Newcastle Central Community Fire Stations.
The first crew was on scene within five-minutes of the call to Control.
“Upon getting access to the incident location our crews quickly assessed the fire. Firefighters extinguished the van fire using water jets.
“Our blue light colleagues at Northumbria Police were also in attendance.
“Our crews made the area safe after extinguishing the fire then left the scene at 10.52am."
