BREAKING: Murder investigation launched after man stabbed near park

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death near a park in Salford.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to the scene near Clarendon Park just after midnight today (Tuesday) after a man was found with a serious stab wound. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

A murder probe has since been launched. No arrests have been made yet, police said.

Detectives said the incident is believed to be 'isolated' with 'no wider risk to the public'. The investigation is in 'very early stages'.

A cordon has been in place around parts of the park this morning, with two forensic tents also erected near an alleyway. Forensic officers were pictured combing the area for evidence as at least six police vehicles were stationed near the park.

Officers are now urging any witnesses - or anyone who has any CCTV footage - to come forward. Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Superintendent Natalie Dalby, said: "We will continue to investigate what we believe to be an isolated incident, with no wider risk to the public.

"These are the very early stages of what is now a murder investigation, and a team of detectives are working tirelessly to piece together information and evidence. We will be following-up a number of different lines of enquiry we have to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
