Motorcyclist, 35, dies after horror crash in Tameside

A motorcyclist has died following a crash in Tameside last night. Emergency services scrambled to the scene of the fatal incident shortly after 10pm, on Mottram Moor, Mottram.

Police were called and the 35-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident was said to have involved a black motorcycle.

An investigation has now been launched, with Greater Manchester Police continuing their enquiries and asking for anyone with any information to come forward. The road was closed overnight, with severe traffic delays throughout Monday morning.

The closures were in place from the junction of Market St and Woolley Lane, Hollingworth. Commuters were diverted as GMP lead the incident response and warned of the prolonged closure, which lasted throughout the night until around 8.30am.

Police have said their thoughts are with the man's family as they have vowed to do 'all they can to get the family the answers they need'. A spokesperson for the force said: "Just after 10.15pm last night (8 May 2022), officers were called to a report of a road traffic collision involving a black motorcycle on Mottram Moor in Mottram. Emergency services attended and an 35-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene."

PC Phillip Collingwood, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family who are understandably devastated at the loss of their loved one and we’re doing all we can to get the family the answers they need.

“I would ask anyone with information or anyone who may have seen the black motorcycle prior to the collision to get in touch.
