Manor Park Kwikfit fire: 70 firefighters tackle tyre shop blaze in east London

Dozens of firefighters are tackling a fire at a Kwikfit in east London this evening.

The majority of the single-storey industrial unit is alight, according to the London Fire Brigade (LFB) who have sent 10 fire engines to the scene.

Properties nearby were evacuated as a precaution.

It is thought the blaze broke out shortly before 9.51pm when the LFB was called.

A number of gas cylinders have exploded due to the heat.

Dramatic footage showed flames tearing through the workshop as smoke billowed into the sky.

One Twitter user said: "The air is thick with fumes all the way out to the north circular, best keep windows closed".

The fire was deemed 'under control' by 11.18pm and the cause is under investigation.

Crews will be at the scene throughout the night, the London Fire Brigade said in a tweet.
