Man faces court after making threats to blow up police station

A 29-year-old man has admitted making threats to bomb a Greater Manchester Police station. Luke Nuttall appeared at Tameside Magistrates Court this morning (June 16) faced with three charges of malicious communications and a further charge of a bomb hoax.

The charges of malicious communications relate to three threats to bomb Ashton police station - made on January 5, February 2 and June 14. The bomb hoax charge is in connection with the June 14 incident.

Nuttall, of Rupert Street, Reddish, pleaded guilty to all four charges in court today. He is due to appear in court again on July 7.

A spokesperson for GMP Tameside said: "On Tuesday, June 14 2022, an officer at Ashton police station received a threat via a phone call from a known male, stating he was on his way to blow up Ashton-under-Lyne police station. An immediate search of the local area was then conducted, resulted in the male being located and arrested at an address in Ashton.

"Officers from GMP Tameside's North neighbourhood policing team interviewed the male in relation to this offence and then sought a charging decision from the Crown Prosecution Service for this and two further threats to bomb Ashton police station in January and February 2022.

"Nuttall was remanded in custody to to appear at Tameside Magistrates Court this morning. When he appeared, Nuttall pleaded guilty to all charges and was remanded in to custody to re-appear on July 7, 2022."
