A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an 'unprovoked attack' in an alleyway that left a victim in a critical condition in hospital.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene of the violent attack on a path near Kingsway Park, in Urmston, on Monday evening (June 19) following reports of a man with stab wounds.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was rushed to hospital from the scene for surgery where he remains in a critical but stable condition. A police scene has remained in place on the quiet residential street since the attack with enquiries continuing.

An attempted murder investigation was immediately launched, with police calling the attack 'violent, unprovoked and frenzied'. Police had initially arrested a 42-year-old who was later eliminated from their enquiries.
On Thursday night (June 22) police arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in police custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Paul Costello of Trafford CID said: “Although this appears to be an isolated attack, there will continue to be extra patrols in the area over the next couple of days, who are there to reassure the community, as keeping them safe remains our priority.
“They can also be approached by anyone who may have any further information which may be able to help us with our enquiries."
