BREAKING: Major road shut in both directions after serious crash

A serious crash has closed a major Bury road in both directions. There are delays on Manchester Road following a collision between a motorbike and a Mercedes. The accident happened at around 5.25pm between Richmond Street and Gigg Lane.

The motorcyclist has suffered ‘life-changing injuries’, the Manchester Evening News understands. It is not yet clear when the road will reopen.

Radcliffe Road and Parkhill Road are also closed, according to reports. Alternative routes are currently available on Gigg Lane, Market Street and Wellington Road.

The Manchester Evening News has contacted GMP for more information.
