Liverpool's move for Fulham star Fabio Carvalho has fallen through after the EFL failed to provide a deal sheet with the negotiations going past the 11pm transfer deadline.
The Reds looked set to sign the Cottagers teenager, who has been in sparkling form for the Championship leaders this term, but it has now fallen through, according to various reports.
Liverpool were on the verge of completing the signing of Carvalho and then loaning him back to Fulham for the rest of the season, with the two clubs agreeing a fee.
A deal sheet, that helps clubs secure signings after the transfer deadline, cannot be handed to EFL clubs.
Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison admitted he was left "gutted" for the "seriously talented" Carvalho.
Speaking on Sky Sports News, Morrison said: "I'm gutted for Carvalho. He's a serious talent. He excites me. He's so good at football. I thought he would have been an outstanding signing for Liverpool.
"Listen, I think it might happen. I hope it does because that young man deserves to go and work under someone like Jurgen Klopp.
"Marco Silva is doing a good job with him but going to a club like Liverpool as a youngster, that's what you dream of. He's got to get his head down, keep producing the form he's been showing at Fulham.
"Everyone is talking about him and hopefully in the summer, it happens for him. I am gutted for him because he has some serious ability."
Carvalho sees his contract at Craven Cottage expire at the end of the season and there is no doubt that Liverpool will reignite their interest in the young talent. However, Chelsea are also said to be keen admirers.
