A toddler has been killed on a farm in Devon in what police have described as "unexplained circumstances".
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the two-year-old girl died last Friday evening on farmland in the Lifton area of west Devon - the second farm tragedy involving a child in the county in recent weeks.
Details on what happened surrounding the girl's death have been scant, but the force has said the girl's death was being treated as "unexplained".
A force spokesperson said "Police were called at 7pm on Friday 16 June to farmland in the area of Lifton in west Devon.
"A two-year-old girl was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.
"The Health and Safety Executive [HSE] have been notified.
"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries remain ongoing on behalf of HM Coroner."
The tragic news follows the death of a toddler on another farm in the county earlier this month after a tractor collision.
Police were called to the farm in the Buckland Brewer area of north Devon on Saturday 13 May.
The child, from the Holsworthy area of Devon and whose gender and age was not given but is understood to be younger than two, died at the scene.
Devon and Cornwall Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and the coroner had been informed.
The HSE is also investigating that tragic accident.
