Hamza Yassin has been revealed for Strictly Come Dancing 2022.
The wildlife cameraman - who is currently making his way back from an expedition abroad - is best known for his work on the likes of Countryfile and Animal Park. He is also a CBeebies presenter and he has also worked with Channel 4.
His stint on the show was announced on BBC Radio Scotland today, and they will take to the dancefloor for the BBC One Latin and ballroom show's upcoming twentieth series. Oti Mabuse and Aljaž Škorjanec have both departed the show, with four new professionals set to take their place alongside show favourites like Giovanni Pernice and Amy Dowden.
There is also set to be a change on the judging panel too, with Bruno Tonioli confirming he has stepped down from the show and Anton du Beke permanently taking his judging space after filling in for him previously. He will sit on the panel alongside Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse, with all of them casting an eye over the new celebrities including today's thirteenth star.
Speaking about his upcoming appearance on the show, he said: "I am absolutely over the moon to be joining Strictly 2022. Never in a million years did I think I’d be on such a cool show.
"I’ve been watching it for years and I can’t believe I’ll actually be there dancing live in front of the British public."
He added: "My dance skills are currently at the level of ‘1970’s disco vibe’ but I’m ready to work hard and will be shaking it every time I get the chance – shake it ‘til you make it!"
His presenting credits include on BBC’s Animal Park and a guest presenter on BBC’s Countryfile. He will also be known to younger viewers as Ranger Hamza, as he presents CBeebies live-action show Let’s Go For A Walk.
The new announcement follows a string of great signings for the BBC One show including Fleur East, who shared her excitement about being on the show and her wish to do it for her late father.
"I’m equally nervous and thrilled to be part of this year’s Strictly line up. I’m excited to learn new skills and I want to soak up every moment of this magical experience," the X Factor star and presenter said of her stint on the show.
"It’s such an honour to be on the show after years of watching it with my Father who loved it so much. Unfortunately my Dad is no longer with us but I know he will be watching over the ballroom in spirit.
She added: "I’m doing this to make him and my family proud and can’t wait to get my dancing shoes on!"
Elsewhere, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps star Will Mellor was the first name to be confirmed for the upcoming series, with the Coronation Street actor describing it as something he wanted to do for his family, particularly his mum.
He said: "I'm honestly so chuffed to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this year! Not going to lie, it's totally out of my comfort zone and I know it will be a huge challenge but that's what life is all about.
"This is also my Mum's favourite show and she’s had a really tough few years so I’m doing this is for her as well. Bring it on!"
Strictly Come Dancing 2022 kicks off next month, with 13 stars now already confirmed for the upcoming series.
