Frank Lampard issues verdict on Todd Boehly's furious Chelsea dressing room pep talk

Frank Lampard has "no problem" with Todd Boehly coming into the Chelsea dressing room to give a pep talk following the side's 2-1 defeat to Brighton at the weekend.

News emerged on Monday that Boehly had addressed the Blues team on Saturday afternoon following the defeat at Stamford Bridge. The American supposedly had some tough words for the squad who had thrown away a one-goal lead in west London.

"I am comfortable with that," Lampard told reporters. "There was maybe some criticism of our old owner of not coming to the game, which wasn't always true, but when the owners are very invested in the team and want to help and improve, I think it's their prerogative to have the input they want.

"I remember as a player when the owners used to come through into the dressing room, it actually happened here at Chelsea, it didn't really happen before, and I remember being really happy that you could touch them, high-five them, feel them. So I don't think that's a bad thing when you want to get to where you want to get to.

"I have no problem with it from my point of view. I had my things to say after the game. If an owner wants to come in say something to the players, then I think it's absolutely his part to do that. Like Kepa said, it can be very regular in the modern day. No problem, in fact, it shows passion and that's the first thing I want."

Just before Lampard came out to speak to the press, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga faced the media. As Lampard referenced, the Spaniard also didn't have an issue with Boehly addressing the players and said it's something that happens quite frequently.

Kepa said: "Todd comes to the changing room every game. He has different chats with us every game. I'm not going to say what he said but it's normal for him to come to the changing room."
