England captain Ben Stokes has revealed thieves have stolen his bag while he was at King's Cross station.
Stokes is enjoying some well-earned time at home after a busy winter saw him help England win the T20 World Cup, lead the Test team to a historic 3-0 whitewash over Pakistan and a thrilling 1-1 draw against New Zealand.
The 31-year-old's next assignment will see him fly out to India to play for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, after the franchise bought him for a whopping £1.63m at the most recent auction.
However, after travelling up to London from his home in Cumbria to watch the England rugby team play France in the Six Nations, Stokes had a bag stolen while at King's Cross.
"To who ever stole my bag at King's Cross train station. I hope my clothes are to big for you ya absolute ******", he tweeted.
Stokes is set for a bumper summer of cricket as he hopes to lead England to victory against rivals Australia and regain the Ashes for the first time since 2015. Alongside new coach Brendon McCullum, Stokes has completely transformed England's fortunes in Test cricket as they have gone from a team that had won just one of their last 17 games to one that has won 10 in 12 while playing an exciting brand of cricket.
Their new ultra-positive and attacking style has been dubbed 'Bazball' after McCullum's nickname and he says England are hoping to "do something pretty special" this summer against Australia. "With the skipper in charge, I'm not sure what's possible for this side because he's a guy who writes his own scripts and achieves some pretty special things," McCullum said last month.
"I know the plans he has for this team are quite lofty and he'll try to do what he can to drag the boys along for the ride. It's been a good start. This year has been quite amazing.
"We know there are some big challenges in front of us as well but whatever happens we've achieved some pretty cool stuff over the last little while and if we can take forward the lessons we have learned from the past 10 or 11 months it will give us an opportunity to do something pretty special in the next little while."
