Eamonn Holmes rushed to hospital for 'unexpected' treatment as he's forced to take TV break

Eamonn Holmes has been forced to take a break from presenting on GB News to undergo "unexpected" hospital treatment.

The 62-year-old shared the news with fans on Twitter after concerns that he hadn't appeared on his breakfast show for the past week.

He wrote on the social media site: "Hi everyone, Many of you have been asking why I haven’t been presenting GB News for the past week.

"Unfortunately, due to a reoccurence [sic] of a long-term back condition, I’ve had to undergo some unexpected hospital treatment and am now following Doctor’s orders by taking a short time off.

"However, I’m looking forward to being back alongside Isabel, my Breakfast co-presenter and friend, next week. Even though I only joined GB News six months ago the whole team and our amazing audience have shown me immense support which has been greatly appreciated.

"I now just need some time with my family to heal and recuperate. See you soon, Eamonn."

Among those to wish him well were his workplace GB News, who wrote via their Twitter account: "We hope you feel better soon @EamonnHolmes! Sending love and best wishes from all of us here at GB News."

Co-star Anna Riley also wished him well, writing: "Hope you’re feeling better soon, Eamonn, and I look forward to having you back on breakfast!"

While Julia Hartley-Brewer commented: "Hope you feel better soon. X"

He has spoken openly about his condition (PA)

Eamonn has spoken openly in the past about his chronic pain struggles, which has often left him struggling with insomnia.

Last year, Eamonn was diagnosed with a dislocated pelvis after months of unrelenting agony.

At one point, while hosting This Morning with wife Ruth, he was unable to return to set on time as the pain became too great.

He arrived moments later with a walking stick, and proceeded to chat with members of the public about their own experiences of chronic pain.

Ruth told: "Now, many of you who follow Eamonn on social media will know he has been talking a lot about chronic pain.

"It's ironic that he's not here because he had to nip to the loo. It takes him so long walking, so he's just on his way back. It takes him longer to walk now."

He had told viewers earlier in the show that the pain was giving him sleepless nights.
