Dillian Whyte to snub Tyson Fury face-off as heavyweight row rumbles on

Dillian Whyte will NOT show up to today's press conference with Tyson Fury.

The heavyweight rivals are due to meet in the ring at Wembley on April 23 after Whyte finally signed his contract last week

But Whyte will not leave his base in Portugal to attend today's media event in London.

Fury's promoter Bob Arum has claimed Whyte demanded a percentage of the pay-per-view sales.

“He will not come to the press conference,” Arum told Boxing Scene. “We won the purse bid, which was way higher than the next biggest bid.

"And he’s not coming to the press conference because we wouldn’t give him a percentage of the upside, which you don’t get in a purse bid.

"He told us he won’t come to any of the press conferences except the last one."

Whyte will earn a guaranteed £6million from the fight after Arum, and co-promoter Frank Warren, won the purse bid with an offer of £31m.

But the Londoner took almost a month to sign his contract for the bout, doing so with just hours to spare.

Fury quickly responded: "Oh my God, Dillian Whyte has signed his contract for $8million, what a surprise," he said on social media. "What an absolute idiot, should this even be a talking point?

"The man has signed for the biggest pay day he's ever going to get in his life.

"Oh my God, my head hurts from all the mind games Dillian Whyte has been playing on me. Oh my God, I don't know whether I'm coming or going; my training camp's a mess."

Fury has since withdrawn from social media to focus on his training camp, but when the fight was announced last week, Warren said: "Tyson Fury coming home to fight under the arch at Wembley Stadium is a fitting reward for the No.1 heavyweight in the world following his exploits across the Atlantic in his epic trilogy against Deontay Wilder.

“The fact that this mandatory defence of his WBC title comes against another Brit only adds to the occasion. They are two of the biggest characters in British sport and both normally have plenty to say for themselves.

“It is going to be an incredible night and a huge occasion for sport in this country that will capture the imagination of fans right across the world.”
