Emergency services have raced to the scene of a house fire in Wishaw town centre this evening.
Fire crews were alerted to the blaze on Stewarton Street alongside police and ambulance crews after the alarm was raised around 7:30pm.
The road has been closed off to traffic by police.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has confirmed that the incident concerns a fire at a two-storey house, and that six casualties have been passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
Firefighters remain at the scene as they work to extinguish the blaze.
A SFRS spokesman said: "We were alerted at 7.26pm to reports of a dwelling fire on Stewarton Street, Wishaw.
"Operations control mobilised 4 appliances to the scene. and firefighters are working to extinguish a fire affecting a two storey property. Six casualties were passed into the care of Scottish Ambulance Service and crews remain at the scene."
