Body of schoolgirl, 15, found after she 'died suddenly' as police race to property

A 15-year-old schoolgirl has been found dead at a property in Scotland after emergency services raced to the scene.

Officers were sent to Uddingston in South Lanarkshire at around 8.30am on Saturday after concerns for the girl were raised.

Police have said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the child's death but they have prepared a file for the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.30am on Saturday, 22 April, 2023, the body of a 15-year-old female was discovered near Union Way, Uddingston.

"There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Just hours earlier in Coventry a 14-year-old boy died shortly after arriving at hospital.

Police were called to the scene at around 3am where they found the teen and took him to get help.

His death is currently being treated as unexplained.

A post-mortem will take place in due course, West Midlands Police said.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We were called after a teenager was found collapsed off Austin Drive, Coventry, just before 3am today (April 23).

"A 14-year-old boy was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead."

“At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem will take place in due course.”
