Breaking Bad star Anna Gunn teases Skyler White could return for the movie: 'It's gonna be really good'

Are we looking forward to the Breaking Bad movie? You’re goddam right we are.

Details of the upcoming film adaptation have been kept tightly under wraps ever since it was first announced. They’re so secret, in fact, that all it took was a picture of two donkeys posted on social media by Aaron Paul and Brian Cranston to send fans into meltdown last week – although it turned out to be unrelated to the project.

Now, Anna Gunn has hinted at a possible return for her character Skyler White, telling the Standard she could “neither confirm nor deny” any involvement in the film. When pushed to say how much she knew, Gunn replied: “A bit, yeah. A lot. A bit. I don’t know! It’s gonna be really good.”

The actress also joked about a possible role in Better Call Saul, saying: “Who knows? We’ve talked about just having Skyler and Walt in the background, walking past as unobtrusively as possible.”

The actress – who is currently preparing for her West End debut in Tennessee Williams’s The Night of the Iguana – also revealed that police responded to online comments she received when the show was aired.

“There was this college student who had just watched an episode where Skyler makes Walt take Walt Jr’s car back, and she was very upset about that. So she tweeted: ‘Can somebody tell me where I can find Anna Gunn so I can kill her?’ Which to me sounds like a death threat.”

She went on to say: “So the police checked it out. And she said, ‘Oh, I just saw the episode, you know.’ And they said, ‘Well, you did use her actual name.’ And she said, ‘Oh I know but… I guess there’s not free speech’.”

Returning: Anna Gunn hints at the future of Skyler (Matt Writtle)

Gunn appeared in all 62 episodes of Breaking Bad, which follows Chemistry teacher-turned-drug dealer Walter White as he descends into drug dealing to make money following a cancer diagnosis.

The two-hour movie adaptation reportedly began shooting in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in mid-November last year, under the code name Greenbrier.

Details about the upcoming film have yet to be revealed, although The Hollywood Reporter says that original showrunner Vince Gilligan is working on the project. It’s also been reported that Netflix have first-run rights to the film.
