Breaking Bad fans rejoice: Walt and Jesse will appear in season 6 of Better Call Saul

Fans rejoice: Better Call Saul is coming back, and we may just get to see some very familiar faces over the course of season six.

The show’s Instagram page dropped a surprise reveal over the weekend, sharing an image of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman (played by Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul) sitting together in a car, alongside a caption which read: “They’re coming back.”

That’s right: the stars of Breaking Bad will be making an appearance in the upcoming (and last) season of Better Call Saul.

The news comes as welcome news for fans, who have speculated that the stars of both shows would be crossing paths for some time now.

Though Better Call Saul started as a spin-off of Breaking Bad, telling the story of how upstanding lawyer Jimmy McGill slowly became the morally questionable Saul Goodman, the show has been celebrated in its own right for its strong storytelling and complex plotting.

Variety reported that the show’s co-creator Peter Gould confirmed the news of Walt and Jesse’s upcoming appearance over the weekend at PaleyFest LA.

"I don’t want to spoil things for the audience, but I will say the first question we had when we started the show was, ‘Are we gonna see Walt and Jesse on the show?’" he said. "Instead of evading, I’ll just say yeah.

"How or the circumstances or anything, you’ll just have to discover that for yourself, but I have to say that’s one of many things that I think you’ll discover this season."

However, the cast and crew are remaining tight-lipped about how the two characters would be appearing – as well as anything else about the new season.

Though Bob Odenkirk, who plays Saul, said “there’s more” to come in the final series, “if you can’t believe it”, he was stopped before he could reveal anything else.

The news is confirmation of the show’s other cop-creator, Vince Gilligan’s, recent tease that it “would be a damn shame if the show ended without [Walt and Jesse] appearing.”

Though Walt and Jesse’s appearances are shrouded in mystery, fans have already gained a glimpse into the lives of other Breaking Bad characters over the course of Better Call Saul, with Mike Ehrmantraut, Gus Fring and Hector Salamanca all getting airtime over the course of the series.

However, it looks like all these storylines are set to be wrapped up over the course of the coming months, with season six debuting its first seven episodes later in April, and the last six episodes arriving in July.
