Arsenal announce new Aaron Ramsdale contract extension following impressive campaign

Arsenal have confirmed that goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

football.london understands that the deal will keep the talented shot-stopper at the Emirates Stadium until 2026, with the club having the option to extend this by a further 12 months. Ramsdale joined the Gunners from Sheffield United back in the summer of 2021 and has since established himself as one of the most consistent 'keepers in the Premier League.

He has quickly become one of the north Londoners' most important players, with his ball-playing ability a key factor to his side's large improvements in the build-up phase over the last two seasons. Ramsdale received huge plaudits for his stellar performance during last month's 2-2 draw away to Liverpool.

The 25-year-old produced a number of fine saves to keep the Reds out on that day, including an acrobatic stop to deny Mohamed Salah that left Manchester United legend Gary Neville in awe. "This is some save", Neville told Sky Sports during commentary.

"The deflection, it makes it even more difficult for him. Who knows, that might win Arsenal the title, you never know."

Of course, it looks unlikely that Mikel Arteta's side will win the title following a drop in form that handed the initiative to Manchester City. However, the Gunners undoubtedly have a bright future, tying down the likes of Ramsdale and Gabriel Martinelli to new contracts this term.
