Arsenal have agreed a £12million deal with Chelsea to sign Jorginho, football.london understands.
The Gunners will pay £10million up front for the Italian international with a further £2million in add-ons which could hinge on conditions such as whether or not Arsenal win the Premier League. The 31-year-old will join on an initial 18 month contract with the option to extend by a further year.
Arsenal had been keen to add a central midfielder to the squad after a long-term injury to Mohamed Elneny left them short in the middle of the park. Moises Caicedo had been their main target, but after being rejected in two bids for the Ecuadorian the Gunners eventually backed off from the deal.

Arsenal were keen to respect Brighton's stance and insist they had nothing to do with Caicedo's public pleas for a move on social media. After accepting that a deal for Caicedo was not going to happen, the Gunners then pivoted towards a deal for Jorginho, who Chelsea were willing to let leave ahead of the potential arrival of Enzo Fernandez.
The move for Jorginho is not thought to impact Arsenal's long-standing interest in Declan Rice. The England international is their main target for the summer, where they could swoop to sign him for around £80million from West Ham.
Elsewhere Arsenal are waiting on Fulham to complete a deal to sign Cedric Soares on loan for the remainder of the season. The Cottagers have agreed terms but need to free up a space in their squad for another loan player, with a permanent move for Shane Duffy looking most likely at the minute. Several youngsters could also leave the Gunners on loan before the window closes at 11pm on Tuesday evening.
