Aaron Ramsdale signs lucrative new long-term Arsenal contract and makes pledge to fans

Aaron Ramsdale has signed a new four-year deal - and immediately promised to make some "more special memories".

Gunners keeper Ramsdale has committed to a contract - three years plus a 12-month option - to give Arsenal a massive boost on the back of their impressive season. Ramsdale gave an emotional video to the fans thanking them for their support, making him feel like family and at home and said it was “the easiest decision in the world” to re-sign.

It should also signal the start of a raft of new deals for Arsenal’s big performers with Bukayo Saka also set to sign up after agreeing terms and captain Martin Odegaard is next in line. Arsenal are also in talks with France defender William Saliba who has another year left on his contract with the club hopeful but they have yet to agreement.

Ramsdale, 25, joined Arsenal two years ago in a deal worth up to £30m and the England international has become a huge fans’ favourite. The former Sheffield United goalkeeper arrived to an online backlash but his big performances and relationship with the Arsenal supporters have made him a big hit at the Emirates.

Ramsdale said: “It’s crazy to think it’s coming up to two years since we did this. I know that you guys weren’t totally overexcited about the signing of myself and I totally get it. I didn’t have any right to come here and expect you to rate me from the get-go.

“This is a huge club with some great keepers along the way. But, fair play, once I got into the team, I got my chance, I feel like you understood me a lot more. I feel your love and I feel like you feel mine as well.

Ramsdale's new deal will last until at least June 2026 (Arsenal)

“Hopefully you get the idea that I give everything out there. I do everything in my power to keep the ball out of the net and to get that clean sheet. Never doubt that when a result is going against us that we’re all hurting inside the dressing room, equally among the players and staff.

“I know I’m not from around here but you lot make me feel like I am. I get messages and love from all over the world. You took my family in, you made my dad feel like a superstar and it really gives a family feel to the football club.

“You make match day so special and I can’t imagine my home being anywhere else. I feel honoured that you guys have welcomed me in and I feel honoured that the staff want me to stay. So it was the easiest decision in the world to commit my future to The Arsenal. So let’s keep moving forward as a club and make some more special memories.”
