New Zealand Breakers coach Mody Maor has no concerns about any of his players who choose their country over club during a "weird" build-up to the NBL championship series.
The NBL season has been put on hold at a crucial stage, halting momentum at the pointy end of an enthralling campaign.
There is an 11-day break between the Breakers' semi-final series clincher - a 92-77 win over Tasmania on Sunday - and the best-of-five grand final opener against the Sydney Kings on March 3.
The reason is a FIBA international window, during which New Zealand's Tall Blacks face World Cup qualifiers against Saudi Arabia and Lebanon on home soil.
"It's a weird thing," Maor said.
"I think it's the first time we've seen play-offs and how there can be a break in between.
"We'll do the best of it. We'll make the most of the time; prepare, practice, get healthy and get ready."
Seven Breakers players - Isaac Davidson, Izayah Le'Afa, Alex McNaught, Dan Fotu, Tom Vodanovich, Rob Loe and Sam Timmins - were picked in the extended 24-man Tall Blacks squad earlier this month.
Tall Blacks coach Pero Cameron initially indicated the make-up of his final squad would be defined in part by how deep his NBL-based players progress in the championship race.
The Breakers' contingent run the risk of injury ahead of the grand final series if they opt to line up for the Tall Blacks.
When asked whether the Breakers would release the players for international duty, Maor said he would let individuals make the call.
"My opinion about the Tall Blacks is always 100 per cent the same; representing your country is the utmost honour," Maor said.
"Any player that feels this is the right time for him to go and play for the Tall Blacks, it's fine by me.
"The Tall Blacks have done great work. They've put themselves in a great situation with qualifying.
"They also have a really deep roster with incredible New Zealand players, so either way, if they stay or go, I'm happy."
The Tall Blacks face Saudi Arabia in Christchurch on Friday and Lebanon in Wellington three days later.
