Originally from Afghanistan, Manizha was forced to flee her country due to the Taliban's rise to power in 2021. She now resides in Spain and is determined to use her platform to advocate for the rights of Afghan women.
Manizha made a powerful statement during her debut at the Games by wearing a jacket emblazoned with the words 'Free Afghan Women.' Her decision to represent the Refugee Team is a testament to her resilience and commitment to making a difference.
Despite facing disruptions in her training regimen as she searched for stability, Manizha discovered her passion for the sport of breaking through social media videos. She is now among the 37 athletes proudly representing the Refugee Olympic Team in Paris.
In a statement before her performance, Manizha expressed her motivation for leaving Afghanistan, stating, 'I want to do what I can for the girls in Afghanistan, for my life, my future, for everyone.' Her participation in the Games symbolizes strength and hope for refugees around the world.

She noted, 'People from my country and also girls would tell me: ‘You need to learn how to cook and clean the house.’ But now the girls are saying, ‘So cool,’ ‘You can do it,’ ‘I’m happy for you.’ I feel a big difference.'
