Brazil boss Ramon Menezes makes decision on Newcastle United pair Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton

There was no place in Ramon Menezes' Brazil squad for Bruno Guimaraes despite a stellar season with Newcastle United. The Toon midfielder was part of the Tite's Selecao squad for the World Cup in Qatar but has been dropped from international duty.

He's among a number of big names left out of the squad to face Morocco later this month, with Neymar, Alisson and Fabinho among those left out. Menezes, who is in caretaker charge of the nation while they look for Tite's replacement, has handed nine players the opportunity to wear the yellow green and blue for the first time.

Despite handing a number of players an opportunity to impress, one player who's been overlooked again is Joelinton. The midfield enforcer has been among the standout performers for Eddie Howe's side since dropping into a deeper role.

There were increased calls from among the black and white faithful to see Joelinton join Guimaraes at the World Cup in Qatar, but he was ultimately overlooked by boss Tite. The former Brazilian head coach took in Newcastle's win over Aston Villa back in October after having lunch with Guimaraes in the city.

Tite parted ways with the Selecao following a disappointing World Cup campaign having been many people's favourites for the competition. Menezes has named a number of players who're currently playing in the top flight of the Brazilian Serie A.

There's no indication yet as to why Guimaraes has been left out of the side, along with a number of other big names. However, it'll come as a boost to the Magpies domestic campaign having the midfielder fit an available for action.
