Brazen thugs scoot off with stolen cash box after daring daylight robbery in Crumlin

Gardai are investigating a cash in transit robbery that happened in Dublin this afternoon.

The incident, which took place shortly before 1pm, involved two men and one of them was armed with an imitation firearm.

They confronted a male security employee outside a post office on the St Agnes Road in Crumlin and demanded the cash box he was transporting.

Brandishing the imitation firearm to threaten him, the culprits seized the opportunity and grabbed the cashbox.

The pair opted for a daring getaway, using an electric scooter and a bicycle to flee the scene.

They made their getaway via the St Agnes Road in the direction of Windmill Road.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

Gardai promptly responded and recovered the imitation firearm used during the incident.

They are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with camera footage to contact them.

A spokesperson said: “Gardai are investigating a cash in transit robbery that occurred in Dublin 12 this afternoon, Thursday 1st June 2023.

“Shortly before 1pm, two males, one of whom was armed with an imitation firearm, approached a male security employee outside a post office on the St Agnes Road in Crumlin and threatened him, demanding the contents of the cash box he was transporting.

“The males then took the cash box and fled the scene on an electric scooter and a bicycle via the St Agnes Road in the direction of Windmill Road.

“No injuries were reported during the course of this incident. The imitation firearm used during this incident has been recovered by Gardaí.

“Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the St Agnes Road/Windmill Road between 12:30pm and 1:30pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.”
