Brandon Williams sets goal and praises Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag

Brandon Williams has insisted he is working hard to repay the early faith shown in him by Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag.

The 22-year-old returned to make a late cameo against Burnley in the Carabao Cup last month, after spending large parts of last season and pre-season on the sidelines due to injury. United are set to face Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup this evening, which could prove another chance for Williams to gain some more vital minutes.

Having also featured during the side's winter break over in Spain, the former Norwich City man started in both games against Cadiz and Real Betis, and provided his thoughts on the camp as a whole.

“It was tough," he told the club's official website. "It was something I needed as well, obviously being out with a long injury and coming back, it was difficult to probably get some concentrated training. But, with the World Cup being on, I got a kind of mini pre-season and it helped me as well. Walking back out on the pitch in a United shirt is something that I love to do and want to do many more times.

With the Reds seemingly inundated with full-back options at present, Williams added he is keen to repay the faith shown in by Ten Hag as of late, adding he will do all he can to impress the former Ajax head coach in the process.

"Even being on the bench, just waiting for that opportunity," he explained. "When I do get an opportunity, I will take it. I’ll show the manager what I am capable of. It’s been a hard couple of months because I’ve been taking in so much information and learning the manager’s game plan and the way he does things. I really enjoy that and enjoy learning it and I feel really positive.''
