Brandon Aguilera hopes World Cup will 'open more doors' after Nottingham Forest transfer

Brandon Aguilera is keen to use the World Cup as an opportunity to "open doors" ahead of his move to Nottingham Forest.

The 19-year-old signed a four-year deal with the Reds in the summer, before returning to his home country to join club Guanascateca on a six-month loan deal. Playing regular football with the Primera Division side has boosted his chances of representing Costa Rica in Qatar.

Aguilera is hopeful that the tournament will give some lesser known players like himself a chance to showcase their talent. "I feel I have to go, open more doors and take all the opportunities," he told Teletica.

"Just as I took other opportunities and faced them, I feel that with personality, dedication and with all the energy possible, I feel that if I face these challenges like that, more doors will open for me."

The youngster is regarded as one for the future for Forest, and whether he will gain regular game time at the City Ground when he returns remains to be seen.

Previously speaking about his move to Forest, he said: "I would like to thank God for this great opportunity with Nottingham Forest. It’s a dream come true for me to come over to England and be part of this club, which has such rich traditions and history that’s known around the world.

"The City Ground is a fantastic stadium and I can’t wait to experience it in full voice in the future."
