Brand new Black Rooster restaurant to open in Ayrshire in the New Year

Chicken lovers are in for a treat next month as a top food franchise is set to open a new eatery in Ayr town centre.

Popular Black Rooster Peri Peri - who are known for their sizzling chicken wings, burritos and burgers - will be arriving in Ayr High Street next month.

Hungry foodies can tuck into Black Rooster’s extensive menu - which also includes a kids menu and lighter options like salads and rice bowls - from the old Caffe Monza unit on the High Street.

The restaurant, which will create 15 new jobs, will officially open day on Monday, January 9, and will be open from 12noon until 10pm seven days a week - meaning customers can get their chicken fix pretty much round the cluck.

Ayr is now set to be the ‘flagship site’ for Ayrshire, following the sad closure of Black Rooster in Irvine’s Rivergate Shopping Centre, which opened in June 2021.

Gerald Docherty and Joshua Lynch, franchise owners of the Black Rooster Peri Peri Ayr store, said: “We are excited to bring the hugely successful franchise to the community of Ayr.

“I have been a fan of Black Rooster Peri Peri for years and think that the people of Ayr will love the variety and quality that’s available.

“Ayr was an obvious location when the opportunity arose – it has a great community of residents and businesses, and we can’t wait to meet customers – locals and passers-by alike.”

Chris Watson, franchise brand manager, added: “It’ll be great for the High Street. It’s almost ready - it’s looking nice and we’re really looking forward to it.

“Customers can enjoy quesadillas, chicken burgers, the regular peri peri chicken options - they’re the most popular ones.

“Irvine is no longer open unfortunately, so this will be our main flagship site in Ayrshire.”

Kevin Bell, owner and director of Black Rooster Peri Peri, added: “Our brand is much loved across Scotland, and we hope that Ayr will be no different.

“We’re looking forward to seeing what the residents of Ayr think!”
