Braga pay Rangers the ultimate compliment as they sound Europa League alarm with thrilling Benfica win

Excited Braga boss Carlos Carvalhal has confirmed he will attend Sunday's Old Firm personally ahead of their Europa League showdown with Rangers.

The Portuguese side welcome Giovanni van Bronckhorst 's men to their Estadio Municipal de Braga next week for the first leg of the quarter-finals tie.

And he will take in the Rangers and Celtic game at Ibrox in person.

They will approach the clash with Gers full of confidence, according to former Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City boss Carvalhal, after their 3-2 win over Benfica on Friday night, where they still won despite losing a two-goal lead to be pegged back to 2-2 before Vitor Oliveira grabbed the winner.

Carvalhal revealed during the week that he was considering flying to Glasgow and has now confirmed he will spy on Rangers at Ibrox at high noon on Sunday.

He said: "I will go to the Old Firm game with my assistant to watch Rangers vs Celtic in person.

"I was very proud of my team on Friday.

"We worked so hard as a team and they carried out the game plan perfectly.

"We had a lot of the ball, which is impressive given the qualities of Benfica and we created a lot of opportunities. We deserved to win.

"Of course, we knew Benfica would come back at us and I have to admit they deserved to be level.

"But we proved once again what a great spirit we have. We could have been depressed after the equaliser, but my players actually grew stronger and more determined.

"I have to give huge credit to them for finding a winner and we are in a good place at the moment.

"The quality of the goals we scored as well were simply fantastic."
