Bradley Walsh ITV series axed after falling viewing figures

Bradley Walsh is a daytime and evening TV favourite. He's on our screens hosting The Chase, stars with son Barney in Bradley & Barney Walsh: Breaking Dad, and takes the lead in The Larkins. That is up until now. ITV has axed one of his TV shows after viewing figures reportedly fell.

In an interview on ITV's This Morning with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby last month, Bradley seemingly clearing up rumours that The Larkins had 'flopped' in the ratings. However, despite this statement, the drama will not be returning for a third series. Bradley stars in the main role of Pop Larkin in the The Larkins.

A spin-off series from Darling Buds of May, which starred David Jason in the title role, The Larkins has failed to draw in the ratings. According to Wales Online, the decision has been made to axe the series due to falling viewer numbers and among rumours of tension on set.

The Larkins last aired in October and November 2022, when rumours flew that cast members were not getting on. Sabrina Bartlett, who played the main character Mariette Larkin, left the programme after just one series due to "reported tensions" with co-star Tok Stephens.

Reports also indicated that viewer ratings struggled after Sabrina left the programme. A source told The Mirror: "The ratings for series two were disappointingly low and cast disagreements on set have been an ongoing problem for the production team."

"Sabrina’s issue with Tok and her decision to leave was a massive problem for the bosses. But there have also been other disagreements." The second series saw a significant drop in viewership, attracting only 2.9 million compared to the 4.8 million from the previous year, totalling a loss of two million viewers.

Bradley Walsh will still be on our screens hosting the ITV gameshows The Chase and Blankety Blank. He is also currently sharing the limelight with his son on Bradley & Barney Walsh: Breaking Dad, which is airing on ITV1.
