Bradley Walsh describes contestant's surprising name as an 'omen' on ITV's The Chase

Viewers tuning into tonight's episode of ITV's The Chase were left distracted by one contestant's surprising name - which host Bradley Walsh even described as an 'omen'. During Wednesday's instalment of the gameshow, Andrew, Amy, Jean and Success battled it out against Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty for a cash prize - but one of the hopefuls' name really grabbed viewers' attention on social media.

Even Bradley joined in after introducing his four contestants towards the start of the show by expressing his surprise and awe, telling viewers: "Wow Success! Is that an omen?" Unsurprisingly, many watching the programme from home flocked to Twitter to react to, you guessed it, 19-year-old Success' name, with some saying they had never heard the name before.

@_VTaylor wrote: "Is that really his name? #thechase."

@elvismush added: "Naming your child success is setting he/she for failure, poor child will be under pressure from birth. #TheChase"

"Will Success succeed to the final #thechase." @KayleighAnslow quipped, while @FaxBrony added: "#TheChase Will Success be a success?"

@LexieAshmore asked: "Success? Me: Get on Twitter to see what they are saying about that!"

Success later revealed that he is currently a politics student living in Romford, east London, and if he were to win some money, would like to spend it on going to the next World Athletics Championships. Fortunately, it would seem Success' name was indeed a lucky omen after all as all four contestants went on to win an impressive total of £28,000 - £7,000 each - after beating Anne at the final chase with 11 questions to spare.

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm.
