Brad Pitt's star power is legendary, but he hasn't generated a collective frenzy like what happened this weekend at the Mexico Grand Prix.
The American actor and producer was in Mexico City working on his latest project. As he's done at other races, Pitt used the Formula 1 event to film scenes for his upcoming movie, 'F1', which takes place in the world of car racing.
This weekend, Mexico was immersed in Formula 1 fever. Prior to the final race on Sunday, which Spanish pilot Carlos Sáinz won, there were practice rounds and qualifying races on Friday and Saturday. The perfect ending for his career with Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton will take over for him the following year.
Federico González Compeán, director of the Mexican Grand Prix, confirmed they had been more than happy to authorize filming during the race. He also said that negotiations to extend Mexico's Formula 1 contract were successfully concluded. While Pitt won't return next year, high-profile figures are always drawn to these major sporting events, and Formula 1 attracts an especially elite crowd.
González noted that Pitt and the film crew were given access to specific areas of the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, where the race took place.

In scenes filmed during the weekend at the Autódromo, Pitt was seen in a classic white F1 racing suit with short, blond-highlighted hair, looking dapper.
Fans were thrilled to see him, but the excitement hit a peak when Pitt approached the crowd holding a Mexican flag, before running to the racetrack and extending it. It was a gestured that won him even more hearts. "Brad hermano, ya eres mexicano," wrote many on social media. In English in means "Brad, bro, you have become Mexican."
He embraced it and proudly displayed it to the audience in the stands, creating a wave of enthusiasm. It's not every day that one of Hollywood's biggest stars holds and embraces a beloved Mexican symbol.
Pitt's movie 'F1' is expected to premiere in mid-2025. The cast also includes Spanish actor Javier Bardem, seen recently in 'Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez story,' 'The Crown"'s Tobias Menzies, 'he Banshees of Inisherin''s Kerry Condon, 'Ted Lasso''s Sarah Niles, and 'Snowfall''s Damson Idris, who plays Pitt's racing partner.
