Brad Pitt is 'ashamed' of condition that leaves him fearful of looking 'self-absorbed'

Brad Pitt has opened up on his belief that he suffers from a rare disorder which means he's unable to recognise other people's faces.

The Hollywood star, 58, admits he thinks he has prosopagnosia - an uncommon condition in which people suffer from face blindness.

Speaking of the condition, of which he's not been officially diagnosed, he said he struggles to remember new people when he's in a social setting such as a party.

Speaking to GQ in a recent interview, the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood actor confessed he feels "ashamed" of the condition as he fears it may make him look "remote, aloof, inaccessible, self-absorbed" to others.

In a chat with author Ottessa Moshfegh, who said her husband thinks he too has the condition, Brad said: "Nobody believes me! I wanna meet another."

It's not the first time Brad has discussed feeling like he has the condition.

In 2013, he spoke with Esquire and explained feeling as though everyone hated him because they thought he was disrespecting them.

He said at the time: "Every now and then, someone will give me context, and I’ll say, ‘Thank you for helping me.’ But I p*** more people off.

"You get this thing, like, ‘You’re being egotistical. You’re being conceited.’ But it’s a mystery to me, man."

He continued: "I can’t grasp a face, and yet I come from such a design/aesthetic point of view. I am going to get it tested."

Elsewhere in his GQ chat he admitted to feeling "very alone" in life. He continued: "Alone growing up as a kid, alone even out here, and it’s really not till recently that I have had a greater embrace of my friends and family.

"What’s that line, it was either Rilke or Einstein, believe it or not, but it was something about when you can walk with the paradox, when you carry real pain and real joy simultaneously, this is maturity, this is growth."

And he confessed he has changed his life since his divorce from Angelina Jolie was finalised in 2016, saying that everyone will experience similar heartache in their lives at some point.
