Brad Pitt got Courtney Love 'fired from Fight Club' after she rejected his idea

Courtney Love claims that Brad Pitt got her fired from Fight Club after she rejected his idea to play Kurt Cobain in a biopic.

The singer, 58, who was married to the Nirvana icon said that Brad played dirty when he didn't get his own way.

She said that she was originally chosen to play the role of troubled Marla Singer, which ended up being given to Helena Bonham Carter.

She said that she was replaced by Helena after she received a phone call from David Fincher, who directed the 1999 cult classic, who reportedly let her go from the project.

"He fired me because I won't let Brad play Kurt," Courtney claimed on an episode of Marc Maron's WTF podcast.

Courtney was dating Brad's co-star Edward Norton at the time and said that her boyfriend was unable to get her to be re-hired.

"Edward gets home, he starts sobbing – his mother had just died, so it was very much allowed – but he was like, 'I don’t have the power!'"

Then she went on to say that later she received a call from David, who then allegedly fired her from the film.

"My landline rang and it was David Fincher. I knew it was gonna be him. By the way, God bless Helena Bonham Carter. She’s a genius," she continued.

"I’ve never seen that film … And yeah, he fired me because I wouldn’t let Brad play Kurt."

She then said how Brad was "put on earth" to stalk her so he could play Kurt.

The singer said how Brad pitched the idea to make a film about Kurt through his production company Plan B, but she declined.

"My friend Cameron Crowe was like - I don’t think he meant it as literally as it’s become - but like, 'Brad Pitt was put on this earth to stalk you for Kurt,' which has been going on since ’96," she claimed.

Kurt was found dead at his home in Seattle in 1994 after he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

His death was legally ruled as suicide, although there has always been various theories surrounding the tragedy.

He suffered a heroin addiction and was discovered by an electrician who had arrived to install a security system at his home.

A high concentration of heroin and a small amount of diazepam were found in his system.

He had also left a suicide note which was found near his body, which was addressed to his imaginary friend Boddah.

Fight Club which was based on Chuck Palahniuk's book of the same name was released in 1999.

It follows the story of a nameless office worker who suffers from insomnia, played by Norton, and a charismatic and unhinged soap maker called Tyler Durden, who was played by Pitt.

The two characters set up an underground fight club for men who are fed up with their dull lives to feel a bit of adrenaline.

A source told the Daily Mail: "Nearly twenty-five years ago, Courtney Love auditioned for a role in Fight Club, a role she was never offered at any point. You cannot be fired for a job you didn’t get.

"It's common knowledge that roles are not decided by other actors but by the director."

The Mirror has contacted Brad Pitt representatives.
