Brad Dwyer's Leeds Rhinos exit confirmed as Hull FC swoop

Hull FC have confirmed the signing of Leeds Rhinos hooker Brad Dwyer. As revealed by Leeds Live earlier this month, the livewire has departed Headingley after he was not offered a deal to remain at the club.

The 29-year-old joined the Rhinos in 2018 and has gone on to make 100 appearances for the club since. However, he will now continue his career with the Black and Whites after securing a deal with Brett Hodgson's side.

Dwyer has been a standout performer in recent weeks and had commanded interest earlier in the year from St Helens, though James Roby's decision to extend his career put the breaks on a move to the champions. The Rhinos are now set to promote Corey Johnson to a more senior role in the squad while captain Kruise Leeming will remain the main number nine. Jarrod O'Connor has also impressed in the position in recent weeks.

Commenting on the move, Dwyer said: “I’m really excited to be coming over and playing for Hull next season. The biggest attraction for me was playing in front of those fans – it’s an incredible fanbase, and you really get that sense of atmosphere and occasion when playing at Hull.

“Playing off the back of the pack that Hull has too was a big draw for me. I think it’ll suit me down to the ground, it really excited me about what I could bring to the club and I came away from those meetings buzzing for next season.

“It’s exciting to be part of a that spine. Having a couple of other new faces in there like Jake [Trueman] and Tex [Hoy] allows us all to put our own stamp on it and I’m really looking forward to working with Danny and Joe.”

He is the latest confirmed departure from Headingley at the end of the year. Jack Broadbent, Muizz Mustapha, Tom Briscoe and Liam Sutcliffe, who is also joining Hull FC, are also heading out of the club once the season comes to an end.
