Brad Dwyer on the verge of Leeds Rhinos exit as Super League move looms

Brad Dwyer is on the verge of signing a deal with Hull FC. Rugby League live understands the in-form Leeds Rhinos hooker is set to secure a deal at the MKM Stadium after being told there would be no deal for him with Leeds Rhinos.

Dwyer, 29, has spent the last six seasons at Headingley, making over 100 appearances for the club. He arrived from Warrington Wolves and has been a mainstay throughout his time at the club under a number of different coaches.

But he will depart at the end of the year after coach Rohan Smith confirmed he had not been offered a contract to stay at the club. Dwyer has shown some fine form since then and was once again pivotal in their win over Hull KR on Friday, scoring the Rhinos' first try in the 28-20 win to bolster their play-off hopes.

His form has seen the Black and Whites come calling who now look set to secure a second Leeds Rhinos player for 2023, with Liam Sutcliffe already confirmed to be heading to the club next season.

The Rhinos have captain Kruise Leeming as their senior nine and will now look to provide a pathway for Corey Johnson as well as Jarrod O'Connor, who is being trained up to play at nine moving forward.

His departure also frees up more salary cap space for the club, who are currently attempting to free up as much as they can to allow Smith to mould the squad as he sees fit.

When asked about his future on Sky Sports last night, Dwyer admitted he was close to securing a deal. "We're getting close now, not far off," he said.

"But when there is anything on my future it will come from me and nobody else. There will be something coming pretty soon but I've loved all my time at Leeds Rhinos and that certainly won't change over this last little spell. Hopefully, I can finish it personally and as a team as strongly and as well as we can as there's no place like Headingley when it gets going."

St Helens had initially shown interest in Dwyer, but James Roby's decision to play on an extra season saw their interest cool instantly. Salford Red Devils were also linked with a move but it's believed they moved on to different targets some time ago.
