Brad Dourif, the iconic voice behind the foul-mouthed Chucky in the Child's Play franchise, has announced his retirement from acting, except for voicing Chucky. The 74-year-old actor, known for his Oscar-nominated performances, will no longer take on non-Chucky roles. Dourif first lent his voice to Chucky in the original 1988 film directed by Tom Holland and written by Don Mancini.
Don Mancini, the creator of Chucky, is currently the showrunner of the Chucky series airing on Syfy and the USA Network. The success of the horror franchise is largely attributed to Dourif's portrayal of the iconic character. Mancini emphasized the importance of Dourif's performance in bringing Chucky to life, describing the character as simultaneously despicable, lovable, and charming.
New episodes of the Chucky series, featuring the wisecracking doll, air on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EDT on Syfy and the USA Network. Fans can also stream the latest episodes on Peacock a week after their television premiere. The upcoming Season 3, Episode 7 titled 'There Will Be Blood' is set to premiere on April 24.
