A tragic incident unfolded in Missouri as the body of a missing woman was discovered, leading to the arrest of her boyfriend on murder charges. The Barry County Sheriff's Office revealed that Aaron Malone, 23, has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Aspen Lewis, 24.
Reports indicate that Malone contacted authorities on November 25 to report Lewis' possible abduction. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers found a significant bloodstain behind Malone's truck, along with scattered jewelry pieces.
According to investigators, Lewis was last seen at her Exeter residence in the early hours of November 25. Malone initially provided a statement regarding her disappearance, but discrepancies in his account prompted a criminal investigation.
Surveillance footage obtained by officials captured Malone's vehicle arriving at Lewis' residence late on November 24, followed by sounds of distress. The video shows Malone leaving the premises around 1:30 a.m. on November 25, returning a few hours later, and subsequently contacting emergency services.
After leading authorities to the location of Lewis' body, Malone confessed to being involved in an altercation with her and disposing of her remains in a wooded area. The victim was found covered with leaves and sticks, displaying severe head injuries.
Malone appeared in Barry County Court, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is currently held without bond at the Stone County jail.
Aspen Lewis, described as a spiritual individual who cherished nature and animals, leaves behind a young son. Her untimely death has left a community in mourning over the loss of a beloved member.
