Boyd delivers Colak Rangers debut verdict as he drops brutal VAR one-liner

Boyd delivers Colak Rangers debut verdict as he drops brutal VAR one-liner

KRIS BOYD reckons Antonio Colak is destined to score goals for Rangers despite having a debut effort ruled out by the offside flag.

The Ibrox striker had the ball in the net in the second-half against Livingston with a powerful header - but his celebrations were cut short as an offside decision was given.

Replays appear to show Colak in line with Livingston defender Jack Fitzwater, but TV camera angles make it difficult to be certain on the marginal call.

Boyd, however, was sure the goal should have stood as he insisted he can't wait for VAR to be introduced for similar situations later in the season.

Eilidh Barbour joked Boyd is desperate for VAR to come into force after the call, and Boyd remarked: "Correct after another decision like that."

While Boyd was disappointed to see Colak denied a debut goal, he's still confident he'll score goals for Rangers this season after a decent first competitive showing.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he explained: "He didn't really have a lot to do, he wasn't involved a lot in the play today.

"But you've seen there, for me there was enough to say if you do create chances he will go and head them.

"He's playing on the shoulders of defender, he can get away from them.

"He didn't have many touches of the ball but he was able to find the back of the net.

"I know it has obviously not counted but in terms of Giovanni van Bronckhorst going forward and Rangers going forward - if they can get that ball in the box he can score goals, there's no doubt about it."
