Boyd claims he was immediately over Rangers' loss against Celtic despite on-air rant

Kris Boyd has firmly stated that he moved on quickly from Rangers' loss to Celtic, despite his emotional reaction during the post-match analysis.

The outspoken Sky Sports pundit humorously dismissed Chris Sutton's suggestion of a comforting hug after the team suffered a gut-wrenching 3-0 defeat at Celtic Park, just before the international break.

Following the match, the former Rangers striker didn't hold back in his critique of the club, addressing issues from boardroom level to the "embarrassing" performance on the pitch.

Boyd's candid comments highlighted the need for significant improvements at Ibrox as he noted a lack of fight from those representing his old employers.

"I was over it straight away," Boyd told The Warm Up.

"When you look at it, just the way the game materialised and panned out you look at Rangers and they have just not been able to lay a glove on Celtic over a number of games now. They started really well and Celtic obviously got that goal that was chopped off, and Rangers then capitulated. It would be a worry.

"You are saying to yourself 'where are your characters, where is the leaders that are going to stand up?', because going to a cauldron like that - there have been better teams than this one just now that have gone to Celtic and folded - but you have got to at least see that fight. I thought for large periods of that game there wasn't."

Asked if he accepted the offer from a delighted Sutton after the match, Boyd laughed: "Definitely not. He can't even get a cuddle off his wife, never mind me.

"It's easy when your team is winning. It's not that long ago that a smile used to upset a lot of people in Scotland, so I will bide my time."
