Boy who died at restaurant named, man grabbed rail staff and new Arriva route

Schoolboy, 15, who died at Liverpool ONE restaurant named

A schoolboy who died after collapsing in a restaurant has been named as Euan McNamara.

The 15-year-old, who attended St Mary's College, in Crosby, died after collapsing in the Liverpool ONE restaurant Brown's on Saturday, October 22. Euan was out with family and friends at the time of the incident, at around 5.50pm.

His teachers have described him as a "much-loved member" of the college.

The Principal of St. Mary’s College Mike Kennedy said: "The news of Euan’s death has come as a terrible shock to us all and our thoughts and prayers are with Euan’s family and friends including his sister, Megan, who is a pupil in year 9 at our school.

"Euan was a really lovely boy and a much-loved member of our school with so much to look forward to in his life. To pass away at such a young age is truly tragic, and his sad loss will be felt throughout the whole St. Mary’s community." Mr Kennedy added that St. Mary’s will be offering additional support measures to pupils and staff members affected by Euan’s death.

Man grabs rail staff by throat after trying to travel without train ticket

A man attacked a member of rail staff after trying to travel without paying for a train ticket.

Michael Lucas, of Bath Street, Southport, tried to avoid paying for his ticket twice on Sunday, February 6. The 32-year-old tried to get through the barriers at Wigan Wallgate station without paying for his fare.

Lucas was challenged by gate line staff, then left the station. A court heard that Lucas returned later in the evening and this time he forced his way through the barriers.

Arriva confirm date buses will return to estate after night time ban

Arriva has announced the date that a bus route will return after they were stopped every night.

The bus provider announced on Thursday, October 20, that they would be restricting its 413, 414 and 423 services from stopping on the Leasowe estate after 6pm. Arriva said this was due to antisocial behaviour around the Twickenham Drive area in recent days and added that police were investigating.

A spokesperson said: "We are continuing to work with Merseyside Police, and other parties, to ensure remedial action is put in place. We hope to re-instate services back on normal routes from November 7."
