The victim, believed to be a pupil at the all boys high school in Tuebrook, was leaving at the end of the school day on Thursday when he was attacked.
Emergency services were called at around 3pm, when students were leaving at the end of the day.
According to Merseyside Police, the boy was stabbed in the buttocks and also suffered a slash wound to the wrist.
He was rushed to hospital where he is in a stable condition.
Officers confirmed a second boy, a teenager from Liverpool, was arrested on suspicion of assault following the attack on West Derby Road.
Drug dealer with pepper spray 'bought it from Wish for display'
A drug dealer caught with pepper spray said he bought it from the shopping website Wish to display at home.
Ryan Cunningham was arrested when police stopped his dad's car and found him with a rucksack full of cannabis.
Officers then searched his home and found more drugs and a capsaicin canister - commonly called pepper spray.
But the 26-year-old was today spared jail after a judge accepted he had bought the illegal weapon to display in a glass cabinet and not to protect his drug supply.
Liverpool Crown Court heard police pulled over the car, which was being driven "at speed" by Cunningham's dad, on Stanley Road in Bootle, at around 6.25pm, on October 13, 2020.
Rebecca Smith, prosecuting, said officers spotted the bag containing cannabis next to Cunningham in the footwell of the front passenger seat, along with two mobile phones.
They then searched Cunningham's home in Emery Street, Walton, where in a cupboard they found a mature and flowering cannabis plant.
Family say it's 'early days' for girl, 15, shot at bus stop
The family of a 15-year-old schoolgirl shot as she waited for a bus said it is "early days" in her recovery.
On Tuesday, police and paramedics were called to Upper Warwick Street in Toxteth, at around 5.10pm, after it was reported multiple shots were fired.
At the scene they found the teenage girl had suffered serious injuries after being shot in the upper body.
One family member, who did not want to be named to protect the teen's identity, said the schoolgirl's recovery is "very up and down at the minute".
According to the family, the teenager could need an operation on her spine as following the incident it has "damaged the nerve endings in her arm and hand".
They said the schoolgirl has lost sensations such as grip due to her injuries and is "not fully awake all the time".
