Residents of a Nottinghamshire town have shared their concerns after a child was airlifted to hospital. A 10-year-old boy was hit by a car at around 8.45am in Bingham on Wednesday, December 21.
The collision occurred at the junction of Foster Lane and Long Acre East, and it is believed the boy's injuries are not life-threatening. Residents in the area have wished the boy a quick recovery, and expressed concerns over the junction where the incident happened.
Matthew Goodwin, owner of Computer and IT Services and Sales, located close to the incident, said: "It was just before I arrived so I didn't see anything. All the emergency vehicles were there when I got here, and it was after 11 when they left, they were here for quite some time.

"I'm surprised there are not more accidents here as I see so many people coming down the road and turning at the junction this side of the bollard rather than the correct side. I wish him a speedy recovery and all my best to the family."
A 44-year-old father who did not wish to be named said: "When we went past the road was closed and we saw a car in the middle of the road and a police officer and then another police car was across the road. There was a couple of vans across from it at the computer shop."
He described the incident as "concerning" and explained people often drive down the main road too fast and quickly turn left "in a rush", especially during the school run. He added: "Where the accident happened it's quite dark as there's a big tree so it could be easy not to be seen there."
His wife added: "I think my main worry is that there is no crossing anywhere for children here." She explained that a school on the other side of the town has a crossing and a traffic warden.
Retired, Kevin Martin, 78, of Bingham, said: "That has been an accident waiting to happen there. I have been here about 12 years and every time they come down Long Acre to get down Long Acre East they should signal left but they never do.
"I stop at the edge and wait for the cars to come as you don't know if they are wanting to go straight ahead or turn down the road. There should be lights there, I've said it for years."
Mr Martin said the air ambulance landed at around 9.15am in a field across the road, near the bowling club. He continued: "Every time I go out I see only one in two cars signal.
"It's no surprise, and I'm really sorry that a little boy has been hurt. I do wish the family all the best and I'm so sorry this has happened."
A 34 year old in the area who did not wish to be named said: "I'm aware it's quite a dangerous junction coming out of here (Forester Road) as you have to cross the main road. People come down here very fast.
"It's really surprising, I didn't know what had happened, I just saw it all cordoned off. My thoughts are with the family."
Retired, Neil Fraser, 62, learnt about the accident from his daughter who was taking her mum into the town centre and saw the cordon. He said: "It's not brilliant, and there's obviously a danger there at the junction.
"It's definitely an issue as if we want to cross the road you have to look at traffic from multiple directions. I don't know the family but I hope he's ok."
Inspector Pete Shaw, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers were called to Eaton Place, Bingham, shortly before 8.45am, this morning (21 December) following reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian.
“A 10-year-old child has been taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening. The road remains closed so we would please ask motorists to avoid the area and make alternative arrangements.
“Our investigation into what happened is ongoing so I would urge anyone with any dashcam footage to get in touch with us.”
Nottinghamshire County Council was approached for comment over the safety of the road.
